November 16, 2020 – Confetti is literally small pieces or streamers of paper, mylar, or metallic material which are usually thrown at celebrations, especially parades and weddings. Confetti in a figurative light is small pieces of happiness, light, and love that is thrown around to reciprocate positive energy.

Kasidy Jones, a 5-year-old Youtuber, Kidpreneur, and author, literally and figuratively throws confetti everywhere Kasidy goes. In light of World Kindness Day (11/13/2020), Kasidy has decided to sprinkle confetti around everywhere she goes every day of November. This small act of kindness isn’t only needed, but the emotional and health benefits also positively impact all of those whom Kasidy comes in contact with.

According to the Ivy League college, Dartmouth, there are many benefits to kindness. A few that stood out include; Kindness increases the love hormone and serotonin while kindness decreases stress and anxiety.

Kindness Increases:

THE LOVE HORMONE

Witnessing acts of kindness produces oxytocin, occasionally referred to as the ‘love hormone,’ which aids in lowering blood pressure and improving our overall heart-health. Oxytocin also increases people’s self-esteem and optimism, which is extra helpful when anxious or shy in a social situation.

SEROTONIN

Like most medical antidepressants, kindness stimulates the production of serotonin. This feel-good chemical heals your wounds, calms people down, and makes them happy!

Kindness Decreases:

STRESS

Perpetually kind people have 23% less cortisol (the stress hormone) and age slower than the average population!

ANXIETY

“A group of highly anxious persons performed at least six acts of kindness in a week; after one month, there was a significant increase in positive moods, relationship satisfaction, and a decrease in social avoidance in socially anxious individuals.” — University of British Columbia Study.

It shows why many great minds should join Kasidy in throwing confetti.
